Do you know a kid who loves learning about the weather? CBS4, KCNC-TV—Denver is looking for students ages 6 to 12 to join the Junior Weather Watchers program.
Junior Weather Watchers have the opportunity to participate in hands on science by watching the sky and making weather reports to CBS4. They also have the chance to learn more about Colorado’s climate through exclusive e-mail newsletters and interaction with the meteorologists of CBS4. All it takes to join the team is a love for weather and a desire to let CBS4 know what’s happening where you live. Junior weather watchers tell CBS4 everything from current temperatures to how much rain or snow fell. They sometimes even send cool weather pictures that will occasionally be used on TV. Weather watchers may even be selected to come help with the bus stop weather on CBS4 Morning News.
“CBS4 Junior Weather Watchers are kids who are excited to connect with our weather team and help them build the most complete and accurate picture of Colorado’s diverse conditions,” New Director Tim Wieland said. “The information they provide gives the CBS4 weather team an unmatched perspective on how conditions are changing across Colorado and helps them provide the best TV weather forecast possible.”
Weather watchers are the ones who are always talking about last night’s storm, tomorrow’s chance for rain, or the cool cloud formations they saw last week. The reports they share come from their homes and schools, and the information comes from their own personal weather stations. They tell CBS4 how much snow fell, or how temperatures are changing. They share pictures and video of cool weather events. They can even send a direct alert to the team in Colorado’s Weather Center.
Kids ages 13 or older and adults who enjoy watching and reporting the weather can also join the fun by signing up to be part of the CBS4 Weather Watchers.
