Seniors’ Resource Center Celebrates National Adult Day Services Week on 9/15
Denver, Colorado – For many adult daycare center providers work life can be a “labor of love” that is not always recognized. To celebrate and support our providers, Seniors’ Resource Center (SRC) hosts a Care Partner Dinner every three months. This month the Care Partner Dinner falls on National Adult Day Services Week, and SRC plans to celebrate this special week at our Care Partner Dinner. The dinner will take place on Tuesday, September 15, from 5pm-7pm, at the SRC Wheat Ridge Facility on 3227 Chase Street, Denver, CO 80212.
During this event we provide care partners from our Adult Day and Respite Services (ADRS) with camaraderie, while their loved ones participate in social activities. This month we will be having a painting class, so our care partners can relax, escape the stress of life, and try their hand at painting. They will be painting sunflowers, which represent, strength, resilience, and optimism. Sunflowers are constantly rising and turning their face toward the sun. They provide encouragement and are a joy to see, even on the darkest of days. John Zabawa, SRC President and CEO, states, “Our care partners and their families possess all of the characteristics of the sunflower and we hope to celebrate their work with the paintings.”
Occurring September 13-19 this year, National Adult Day Services Week was set aside to be celebrated every third week of September by the National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA). This special week has been celebrated annually since it was proclaimed on September 27, 1983, by former President Ronald Reagan. The third complete week of September is set aside to raise awareness of the availability and accessibility of adult day programs nationwide.
